I love being part of this fandom, I do. Ponies have consumed me and I wouldn't have it any other way.
But some of you annoy me.
So let me vent. There are just a few things that I can't keep silent on, and hey, what's a journal for if not writing down regrettable rants?
1) We are not the show's main audience. Even me, and I'm at least female, which puts me closer than about 88% of you. Derpy Hooves as a "where's waldo" of MLP is an excellent way for the team to acknowledge and give something to the bronies. But I don't know at what point bronies started assuming that this show was "ours" in some way. Derpy Hooves shouldn't have a major role, that makes no sense and would ruin her. Shipping should not exist in a show aimed at 6 year old girls, honestly, would your parents have let you watch that when you were little? Would you think parents today would let their kids watch that? Trixie under Mare-do-well's hood would have been completely random and made no sense, Trixie was a throwaway character for the purpose of teaching a moral and nothing more.
2) When did the perverted become normal? If you ship pip x Luna, you are shipping a small child and an adult. That's sick, and I'm the one who'll ship (nearly) any two ponies. I'd like my drawfriends to contain 100% *less* Plot/suggestive poses/blatant BDSM/etc. That stuff is going to exist whether we like it or not, but there are some places where we should draw the line.
3) This is a kid's show. Similar to the first point but here I'm talking about criticism of the episodes. There are some criticisms that are legitimate of course. I didn't particularly like the moral of the last episode. Maybe you felt like there was clunky dialogue, too much of X or whatever. These are complaints about what the show is intending to do, about how well it met its expressed purposes. But it's a children's show. It's going to feel campy to us as times, it did back in season 1 if you've forgotten. We'll see the morals coming most of the time, and of course everything gets resolved in 22 minutes.
4) Keep OCs in their place. This is a more minor complaint, but I just have to make it. You don't see it if all you follow is EqDaily, but there's a lot more alicorn OCs, OCs shipped with mane 6, super-special OCs that break the mechanics of the world, etc, than I would've believed. Check your egos and remember that unless you make a legitimately interesting character that feels like part of the world we've come to enjoy, nopony else is going to care to read about it or look at art revolving around it or whatever.
Bronies are extremely lucky. We're having our cake and eating it too. The show itself is beautiful, adorable, and tons of fun. It's also an innocent little girl's show, and that's the way it needs to stay. That's having our cake. To eat it too, we have the fandom, full of shipping, minor characters given life, etcetera, etcetera. Though if "eating it too" sounds like a fetish you indulge in, please at least not advertise it so much.
